Discarded: rue du Parc Royale, 2007
Series of 6 performative photographs
20.3 x 25.4 cm (8 x 10″)
I did this work in the Marais district in Paris, in the early morning when the grounds of the small park were nearly empty. While in a general way I had planned to do the performance and document it at the same time – to crawl over a fence and climb up the sculpture – the work evolved spontaneously as I explored physical connections and aesthetic compositions between myself and the anatomy of the statue and grooves of drapery. Through this performance I explored an embodied study of a work of art and its history. I exhibited this series in 2005 and in 2016.
